ABOUT AMBRE

Ambre Anderson is a Baltimore-born writer, director, and SAG-AFTRA actress known for creating sharp, comedic, female-led stories that blend social insight with humor. She is the daughter of Dr. Marcia Henson-Coakley (dentist, singer, pianist) and Curt Anderson (news anchor, attorney, former state delegate), and the eldest of four siblings. She earned a BFA from Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she won a modeling competition that launched her early career in national department-store campaigns in New York.
As an actress, Ambre established herself professionally with a breakout Jeep Liberty commercial, portraying an art student who paints a Jeep before driving away in it. Shortly after relocating to Los Angeles, she landed her first television role as a feisty waitress on All of Us, executive-produced by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and directed by Debbie Allen. Her career has since included international commercial work in Tel Aviv and South Africa, as well as a Super Bowl commercial in 2022. As a creator and storyteller, Ambre wrote, directed, and starred in the sitcom pilot Ms. Renaissance, which was accepted into five film festivals, including the 2019 People’s Film Festival NYC, where she won Best Actress. Following the festival run, she independently rented and sold out movie theaters in New York and Baltimore, demonstrating a rare blend of creative vision and entrepreneurial execution.
She is currently writing, directing, producing, and starring in the feature film Super Sistas (in development), a comedic, socially conscious project centered on Black female empowerment, sisterhood, and cultural commentary.
In 2023, Ambre received Best Actress from the Cannes World Film Festival for her role in Rhapsody in Justice. She also portrayed the late Dr. Malinda Sapp in the TV movie Never Would Have Made It: The Marvin Sapp Story (2022). Following the film’s release, Marvin Sapp Jr. publicly thanked her for honoring his mother, writing: “…Thank you, for showcasing my mom as the amazing woman she is… we knew there was no better person for the role.”
Beyond film and television, Ambre is a children’s book author, former Huffington Post columnist, international model, and award-winning fine artist. Her work consistently reflects her passion for storytelling that inspires, challenges, and creates space for underrepresented voices.
Ambre considers her greatest honor to be her identity as the daughter of Dr. Marcia Henson-Coakley, who passed away in 2023.
“If I can be half the woman my mother was,” she says, “I’d consider myself pretty damn incredible.”
